My "service engine soon" light only comes on when I'm running around 60 mph and let off the gas and let it coast for a little bit then my light comes on, why is this? It has done this before and I got it looked at and they said that my injectors were clogged but it didn't help it for long obviously. I have dual exhaust on the car could the back pressure have anything to do with it?

I'm interested to hear the feedback on this too. I recently bought my '96 3.8L from a single owner. My light is on all the time. He says it has been on for a few years now. I was hoping it was some kind of reset switch or something.

SES light on intermitently, codes have been stored weather the SES is on or not. Get it scanned and pull the codes, that will help you figue out the next step.
I think 96 is OBD 1.

well i had a smilar problem..my ses light would only come on when i hit around 60 mph and would stay on till i turned it off. it was my egr. but as he said even in a obd1 it stores codes...so go to a local car shop like an autozone or something and they usually have a scanner you can use. however i found it hard to get my 3.4L scanned cause it has OBD1 and the places around here only had OBD2. i think a 96 is OBD2 though
dice...OBD 1 or 2 is On-Board Diagnostics. it monitors the car and everything and stores trouble codes when somethings wrong. 1 being the older and 2 is the newer and improved system.
