Default cat gone??

I just took a look under my 93 camaro and saw that the previous owner straight piped where the cat converter should be. So no converter. Will this affect theperformance very much? ??? .The car vibrates like crazy when idling. Doesa 1993 model go into a safe mode if this is removed? Its a 3.4 motor by the way. Been tuned up and all compression checks and fuel pressuresare ok.

the cats rob power, they are there for emissions only. most people remove them when making a performance car

if your front o2's fail then I believe you run in open loop. But that will not be affected by the presence or absence of cats. now, are you calling open loop the same as safe mode? I guess I havent heard this before. when I think safe mode i think of the new fly by wire cars and their "limp home" mode. but still, the cats have temp sensors on them and thats it. the rear o2's will only throw a light if they are removed and nothing more.

You should only have o2 sensors on your exhaust manifolds so you shouldn't have a problem.

Maybe there is some exhaust mount missing -- check to see that it is properly secured...

Ok mine is stiff as heck. Any other suggestions on what could cause the vibrations? Would a bent crank shaft do this? Or bad bearing somewhere?
