yesterday i bottomed out and cracked my cat so im just going to get rid of it (no emission in SC) there is no o2 sensor after the cat so does this mean i can just put a pipe in place of the cat or am i going to start throwing codes

 

Either put a high-flow cat in its place, delete the rear O2 Sensor from the computer, or put a simulator on the connection if you do not want to see Check Engine lights... So, yes, you will get a SES light if you cat-delete.

 

the only o2 sensors are on the manifolds there isnt one after the cat

 

just got done kinda hate the sound i got but theres nothing i can do now but i never did get an ses light and i drove about 35 miles

 

That's correct. OBDII cars (96 and newer) have post cat oxy sensors. You'll get no SES light.
What did you end up doing, hollowing out the can or replaced it with a pipe?

 

for now replaced it with a pipe but my buddy (i would call him a car guru, he took a taurus SHO made it a 6 speed and now it destroys gt shtstangs) suggested to me i put a glass pac in there it will help my sound a little, this made it raspy


what kind of power am i going to see from this

 

I did that on my last 3rd gen Camaro. Took off the cat, but it was a little too raspy for my liking. I was running a muffler delete exhaust too however, so I was able to tell a noticable sound difference with and without the cat. I then put on a glasspack instead and it sounded real good, but still a little louder than with the cat, but I liked it. So, the glasspack is less restrictive than a cat, but more than without anything. As far as any performance gains, I doubt you'll really notice any.

 

Oops, yea, I should've remembered, since I replaced the cat on my '95 3.4L with a straight pipe... It was too raspy for my liking too.

 

ok this isnt working off the engine its a 2.5 inch pipe but the cat back is 3 inch and they dont make a 2.5 - 3 inch adapter so i took a 2.5 coupling and stretched one end out as far as i could (prob around 2 7/8) then i slid it into one end of the 3 inch pipe that im replacing the cat with put a 3 inch clamp and wrenched it down to the point that it snapped then i got a 2.5 inch clamp and wrenched that down as tight as i could i got online and found out that jb weld will withstand up to 600 F i also looked up how hot the exhaust gets and i came up with an average of around 500 F sooo i filled the gap (no visible light but that doesnt mean the exhaust wont leak) now i gotta wait 24 hrs b4 the jb cures wow this is going to be the longest day ever lets hope this works at least until i can get some money to get cammy to a muffler place to get a fitting pipe welded in (god i wish i had a welder)
