ok im about to buy a camshaft for my 2000 3.8 camaro, but i cant decide which cam would be best, ive been told that that the INTENSE RACING stage 1 would be best....does anyone have any ideas? and another thing, i know ill need the cam installation kit, but will i need anything else? would it be safe to put run that cam with my stock valvespring, retainers, puchrods, ect...?

Would be best for what? I haven't heard much about or even looked at Intense racing's cams. Alot of people go with the GT1 cam from ZZPerformance. New valvetrain componentsare notnecessary but recommended. If you email the guys at Intense they will help you out quite a bit.

Me too. It is on my 'to do' list. GT1 is more for thefolks who want a cam, but don't want to have toupgrade the valvetrain.

I'd upgrade the valvetrain if I were you, no matter the cam. It'll be easy to do while you have everything off the top of the engine. At least springs. The stock pushrods and rockers are actually pretty stout, some argue that they're better than aftermarket. But I would do valve springs and a valve job at minimum.

I'm sure you can get something bigger than that, but that is the biggest I would go w/o upgraded valvetrain.

cam choice is one of those questions that doesnt ahve a "best". IF there was a BEST cam, then all of the inadaquet cams would no longer be on the market. every cam out there has an application.
