Cams
I am looking at cams for my 98 3.8L but i am still in the research stage. I really don't know much about them just yet. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction and if anyone has put in more aggressive cams what are some good ones? Any help would be appreciated.

I have the Comp Cams 255HR12 grind in my 01 3.8(Comp Cams Pt#76-801-9)...it is a very aggressive cam grind, and you will notice a lot of mid-range to top end power gain over stock. It gives it a really nice sound, too. If you do go with this cam tho, upgrade the WHOLE valvetrain...you definitely need to upgrade the springs (Comp Cams Pt#26918-12) spring retainers(Comp Cams Pt#787-12), lifters (Comp Pt#850-12), and I did my pushrods too (Comp Pt#7937-12) because I was worried the stock ones would bend like a wet noodle. It wouldn't hurt to go with new valves, locks, and a timing set. That's what all I put into mine...it does get kinda pricy, but at least you know you won't break anything when you turn it over.

I'm not looking for too extreme. I was looking at the comp cams they have on 3800perfomance.com. Has anyone used those before? I'm still trying to figure out what everything when it comes to cams. When I do this I am going to replace the springs rods and the rollers at least. Though I started to look at prices for rockers

When picking out a cam I have always trusted the true experts, ie the manufacturer of the cam. Call Comp Cams and tell them what you want your engine to do and they can recomend the right cam for you. They will also let you know what will need to be done with the rest of the engine to help the new cam work the best it can.
Also dont forget that no matter what you put in for a cam if it is other than stock you will need to get the engine tuned.
