Welcome to the forums.

Dont take this the wrong way but please search around for this answer. There are 2 posts of the very same topic on the first page of this very forum, and prolly 100+ more on the following pages.

I dont mean to sound rude but this question comes up 2 or 3 times a week.

Larger MAF sensor, check olds and caddy applications.

I was under the impression that the MAF sensor in the 3800 was already a little oversized and doing anything to the MAF sensor before you hit 270 HP was a waste of money and you will see zero change from it?

Massey 01-04-2011 04:44 PM

^^^ that is what I have read as well. And owning a 3800 and seeing the MAF, it is the same inside diameter as the throttle body, so getting a larger one will not do you any good.

If you have TBW then your MAF is part of the throttle body and you are kinda stuck with it. Most 98's were cable controlled anyway so chances are you have the removable MAF.

Yup a large MAF will just bottleneck if the TB is smaller. However removing the screen from the MAF will help a bit.
