cam and bearings question
i have a 95 3.4 5 speed. it blew a head gasket and had some antifreez in the oil. i have the motor out and have cleaned everything. i'm replacing the rod and main bearings, oil pump, putting in a new clutch assembly, new rings and had the heads done. should i replace the cam and bearings? need some input.

Yes you should. The block should be cleaned in a tank. When you put antifreeze under pressure normally seen by oil there is a chemical reaction that turn the antifreeze into acid. The acid melts the babbit on the bearings, That melted babbit material gets into everything.
Just a FYI, back in the 80s GM made us repair motors, there was no engine exchanges under warranty. The only exception to that want if there was coolant in the oil. At the time GM felt there was NO way to be sure they got all the acid and babbit out of the motor and the chances that the motor would need a second major repair where to high so they swapped in a new motor.
