why is it that when i have more than one adult with me in my 94 camaro it seems to want to bottom out? I changed the shocks and checked it all out and still can't seem to find the problem.

^ Good question.

I've had about 650 pounds of people and bags in my car before and never bottomed out. Not even going over the ridiculous speed bumps on campus. O_o It was about a mile drive, with three huge speed bumps along the way...

My son is complaining that the one he is driving is doing the same thing. I haven't looked at the shocks yet but that was going to be my guess. Maybe weak springs?

Yeah shocks do nothing to control ride height. Sounds like you have at least 1 bad spring somewhere.

He says when he goes over the smallest speed bump or turn from a black top road onto a gravel road, it sounds as if the rear axle is actually making contact with the underneath of the car body. He has been driving a 4x4 for the past year and I thought he was taking the bumps to fast but after riding with him, it is like the body just slams the springs down over the slightest dip. It actually sounds like a bad strut but on the rear of the vehilce.

How are your bump stops? Chances are they're probably shot, or gone all together. If they're toast, make a trip to the dealership as quick as you can, they recently stopped producing them. If you can't get a set, check out Napa/Carquest/Advanced, etc. Not sure if you can get them there or not.

Are the bump stops mounted on the axle or are they at the top of the springs? I haven't looked under the car yet, planning on checking it out this weekend.
