Default Bored Over 3.4L

Summit Racing has advised me that Federal Mogul carries overbored pistons for the 3.4 for 36.69 a piece which comes to $220.14 for a set and a local machine shop said they would bore the block for $75 so for roughly $300 you can bore this beast.. if bored over 30 then what does the displacement become? 3.5L? Any idea of how much horsepower to expect?

You only bore an engine when it needs a rebuild. If it's not worn, don't bore it. Bseides, the cost will be alot more than the $ 300 that You think You'll pay. By boring the engine, You'll be basically rebuilding it. Along woth boring and the new pistons, You'll need to have the block vatted ( cleaned ), Replace the cam bearings and freeze plugs, probably surface decked, pressing pistons off and on the connecting rods, a rering kit etc. By the time You're finished, You'll have over $ 1000 in it for about 4 cubic inches of gain. You probably won't see a performance gain. Like I said, these pistons are used to fix tired engines and have the same compression ratio as stock. So before You dive into this project, look at the overall cost verses performance gain and leave it alone.

As uncle bill said, not worth the effort unless the engine needs a rebuild.
