32 mm bars were only on Z28s with the 1LE RPO code. Otherwise, they were all 30/18.

All SS/WS6 cars came with 32/19 however.

 

Maybe he could get a Flowmaster/MagnaFlow muffler/hi-flow cat for around $80 and install around $100? Thats what i first got. Wont add much performance though. Maybe a 180 stat for $15?? And im not suggesting a stat adds hp, thats just the only other thing i could think of haha.

 

A Flowmaster would do absolutely nothing. I got a Flowmaster cat-back and it sucks. The stock muffler probably flows better.

I won't believe it. 11 RWHP gain, 2.5 tenths off of the quarter, 4 tenths off of the 0-60 time, all from an exhaust system on a V6? This cannot be right. I spend some time on LS1 Tech and they all report that Flowmaster are just as restrictive as stock, if not more. Thats why Flowmaster is also known as Chokemaster.

 

Ok, post your own stock exhaust dyno and Flowmaster dyno after and let's see the numbers.

Do you have the American Thunder version like they have in that article? Keep in mind we're talking V6 exhaust here, Z28 stock exhaust compared to Flowmaster may be a different animal...

 

I don't know which Flowmaster it is, but it is Flowmaster. It was installed by the previous owner. I've read more about the Flowmaster and generally, they are more restrictive than most other after market exhaust. It depends on the car, but those gains on the V6 Camaro seem very inflated. I think most would agree.

Unlike a Z28 the base line Camaro has a very restrictive exhaust, remember they were also targeting women and they were shooting for a nice smooth quiet daily driver. That is why it has the carrier bearing on the drive shaft and the very quiet exhaust. So upgrade the exhaust in a V6 will gain you more HP % wise then upgrading a car that came from the factory with performance minded (not great) exhaust.

Let say that the flowmaster is restrictive for an LS1. Exhausts are all about CFM. If I put the best Fbody exhaust system on the market on a diesel truck it would be a choke point. So if a Flowmaster chokes a LS1 that does not mean it will choke a 3.8. Restrictive is relative.

That being said I can accept the fact that the exhaust can gain you 11 HP. In the LS world 11HP is not much but in the V6 world that is a 7% increase in power. I can see .2 with that.

Buffalo, why do you come to the V6 forum? You know nothing about them. You do not have one and you have no interest in them. If you are worried someone might think the V6 is as good as a v8 don’t, we got this.

 

Wow, okay Gorn. I just suggested to not get a Flowmaster based on my experience, I didn't say anything bad about the V6. Whatever, you're entitled to your opinion.
