i have a 95 3.4 5 spd. im looking at dual outlet exhaust and wanted to know what exhaust has the best low rpm range sound without that nasty high pitch rattly sound in the higher rpms.also i noticed that on the muffler the inlet pipe goes to the front of the muffler (the side closest to the bumper) then the outlet is closer to the back (the side closer to the engine). since i wanted to put this on myself would it be easier to buy a cat back system or just the muffler itself because i dont know if ill need new hangers or anything like that.

Hmm.. someone else will probably be able to explain in more depth, but I think long tube headers will create better low end power.

It's usually a bolt up when you buy a catback, if you buy the right one. So it just depends on how much know how you have and how much time. (Might be a little bit of more than just bolt on, but not much)

I'm not really looking for the most power gain from just the muffler i just don't want my car to sound like tuner once i get over 3000 rpm. i'm also not trying to pay someone to put the muffler or a cat back system (depending on what i get) in cuz i can take a few bolts out and put them back in. i just need to know if there is any type if modifications i need to do or specs to know if i just get a 1 inlet 2 outlet muffler and what has the best high rpm sound.

Flowmasters make that Camaro 1-into-2 replacement muffler. My wife bought a used 2000 with the 3.8 and it came with a Flowmasters with 2 Gibson tips and it really looks nice and it kinda sounds like a louder version of the Grand Prix. Seeing it's a 3.8 it doesn't sound as ricey as a Neon, Civic, etc. It has a deeper tone and when you get on it it does sound deeper but still kinda has a deeper ricey tone.

what about cherry bombs (glass pack) on a 3.4?

I'm gonna jump into this thread and ask another n00b question. I've been looking at exhaust systems for an 01 z28 and I've settled on a magnaflow catback system.
But the z28 already has dual exhaust is this system already technically a catback? and if it is could mufflers get me the same deep growly sound that I want rather than buying a whole new exhaust?

The term "Cat-back" Just refers to where the given exhaust system you buy, starts. For example after the catalytic converter. You receive everything thing you need from the "Cat-Back."

If your planning on doing the install yourself, I would get a Cat-Back. It simple, just two bolts and a few hangers.

The mufflers would be great if your handy with a welder.
