Default aftermarket tach HELP!

I just bought an aftermarket tach for my 94 RS. The illumination works fine, as well as the redline setter, but i can't get any reading of rpm at all when it's connected to the car. Ive gone so far as to hook the tach's wire dirsectly into the pin connector for the gauge cluster.
So I was wondering if anybody here knew what it could be. Is there some special place I have to put the tach's wire, or is the tach just crapped?

Are you using both tachs? Do you have it set for your size motor?

Setting it for the incorrect number of cylinders won't make it not work at all--just read WAY off.

Some cars require a tach-adapter in order to interpret the signal. I'm not sure (and I would be surprised if it did since F-bodies are popular cars) if your car requires it, but I would call the company and ask.

I think Autometer has a write-up on it (includes Autogage and their production company--Stewart Warner). (looking online)......

Try this info: http://www.autometer.com/tech_installation.aspx

It doesn't look like you need an adapter, but if this still doesn't help, call their free tech line. If there's a problem with their product, they're the ones responsible for teching it.
