Default ABS/traction control issue

My ABS light goes stays on for long periods of times then shuts off and comes back on. My traction control also tends to go on pretty frequently as well even if its dry out. Since my ABS light is on the abs should be disengaged or inoperable. My guess is that its a falty wheel speed sensor but I'm not an expert in traction control. Could it be a bad wheel speed sensor affecting both the ABS and the traction control, and how would i test this. Just trying to see if anyone may recognize the problem or experienced it before and how they went about fixing it. Hopefully someone can help me out thanks!

i got a bunch of grease in my wheel sensor when i changed the CV joint on my suburban, it made stopping very hard since the abs would engage even in very small breaking, but the light never came on until i pulled the fuse and just got rid of abs, im not sure if that would be the same as a broken sensor or what though.

ABS and traction control use the same wheel sensors & wiring to the control box, so you should check them out first.

Yeah I had this problem with my Grand Am over the summer too, and it turned out to be just a bad wire. And of course, if something happens that affects communication with the ABS, it will affect traction control as well, since TC uses the ABS.

The front wheel bearing we replaced caused the ABS light to come on as well as the Trac control light. It also caused some weird feeling of the brake pedal when they came on, almost like it had air in the line. Once we replaced the wheel sensor, everything is good.
