Default ABS Inop, diagno says...

Hi all, my ABS Inop is lit solid on my '95 3.4l, and my ABS diagnostics scan from my local shop says...

Code 38 - needs ABS Control Module (which is the ABS Motor Pack) -- supposedly this has to be fixed first before looking at other codes... They gave me an Anti-Lock flow chart from http://www.mitchell1.com/ that shows how they troubleshot the ABS Motor Pack.

Also codes 1257, 1262, 1238, 1295, 1226, 1265

I also saw at Murray's Autoparts a Haynes manual, and this is the Delphi Chassis (Delco Moraine) ABS system as I recall -- but there is only like 4-5 pages for this system -- not a lot of help... Why is the ABS stuff so "mystical" and mostly excluded from standard Haynes/Chilton type car manuals?

Has anyone done any work themselves on their ABS? Any advice on this?

TIA!

Fixing ABS equipment is a job best left to the experts. You need a two way ABS scanner and other special tools to work on ABS equipment. The easiest thing would be to replace the entire unit with a rebuilt one.

Ok, so do I understand correctly that the ABS Motor Pack is just a component of the ABS Control Module?

Thanks!

Also, any idea where to find this part inexpensive/rebuilt? Murray's can't order it, and Autozone referred me to Overdrive 888-869-1919
http://www.everdrive.com/ which sells it for $150.44, but they don't have the version for vehicles w/Traction Control

UPDATE: I found out I don't have traction control -- supposedly there has to be a dash switch for that...

If I'm not mistaken, the ABS Motor Pack is a component of the valve body and hydraulic motor. It is part of the hydraulic aspect, more so than the control unit is.

According to my local Chevrolet Parts dept., the Motor Pack (also described as a Brake Pressure Modulator Valve) is part # 18024454, and
https://www.1stgmcparts.com/partscat.html has them for $197.58
