Default 97 camaro 3.8 to 4.3 conversion?

hello fellow camaro enthusiasts. ive got a 97 3.8 camaro with the 5 speed in it and i really can not find any 3.8 engine and i dont want to do the surpercharged 3.8 its just too cookie cutter of a swap and those are hard to find in central new york. i was thinking if i can get a 4.3 v6 out of an s10 with the ecu and harness how hard would that be able to swap over. just a few questions like would it fit in the engine bay? would the k frame need any modification? does the t56 for both v6s have the same have the same clutch and bell housing? and any info you could think to throw in i havent heard anything about this swap or if you know anywhere in cny that has a motor that isnt 1300$ any thoughts would be nice thanks

There is a reason you have not heard of this swap. It would be an insane about of work and it would require a ton of custom made parts. Even just switching to a 350 is a nightmare. Check out the project sub folder and check out the swaps. The computer system in a 97 is all connected together like a network. You pull the original PCM good luck get any of the other systems working again.

IMO 3800 is a better motor then the 4.3. 4.3 has more toque are the lower end but 3800 takes off after 3500 RPMs.

No such thing as a V6 T56. V6 has 5 speeds V8 have 6 speeds. No real reason for 6 speed with a V6. In 6th gear with 3:42 gears you are at 1200 RPM at 65 MPH. V6 will not push a car at 1200 RPMs unless you are going down hill.

How can the 3800 be hard to find? it is the most common engine on the Planet, at lease for GM. You do know you can use a front wheel drive motor up to 2008? We have seen motors with under 10K on them sell for $500. The 3800 is such a strong motor most yards have a ton of them.

i just wouldnt know where to find one in cny and i really dont want to have to pull one from pick n pull because they wont let you bring an engine lift or saws or torches and with the rust in new york i would need all of those.

strip the new engine down to just the block and heads. after you get the old engine out take everything off down to the block and head and transfer to the new engine and install.
