I know that it's going to cost a lot of tome and money but this is something I have been researching and really want to do. I bought the car for practaclly nothing so I think doing the swap is worth the time and effort

^^ i agree the swap is not easy everything needs to be changed you really NEED a donor car for all the parts not to mention all the custom fab that needs to be done youd be much better getting a Z or SS with a blown hg fixing that and take the $5000+ you save from the swap and mod the sht out of the ls1 so insted of a stock ls1 for $5000+ you have a highly modded ls1
when i first got my 6er i was saying ill mod the crap outta this car cam turbo intake all that good sht then i read musicmans build thread hes been working on his 6 for over a year and has put way more money than the cars worth into her and its still not done i love my 6er the car is in showroom condition paints perfect (for a 95 theres a few small scratches) and the interior looks brand new but i cant see myself dropping $5000 into a car that i got for $4500 thats 10 grand for a 16 year old car im just gunna get a Z mod it and save my beautiful 6er my main plan is to be like lenno kinda at least when it comes to cars

My friend did the swap with his 96RS to a 2000 SLP Z28 (not an SS just a Z that went to SLP for the SS mods to the engine and suspension). It took him about 3 weeks to do the swap. He was unemployed at the time so the 3 weeks were pretty much every day for 3 weeks. The job involves changing 99% of the entire car, if you have a 98-02 as the starting point then it is about 85% of the entire car. To get the swap done he needed to change the suspension front and rear, ALL the wiring except the lights in the mirror and headliner, all Brake lines and brake system parts, all fuel lines, heater box inside and out. Dash, steering column, K member, Fuel tank, oh and if the front sheetmetal had not already been upgraded to the catfish nose that will have to be changed too. It is not an easy job and you need to be a knowlegable mechanic to get it done with no CEL or other issues. Trust me here when I say you are better off getting an SS or Z28 to start off with.

dont do a swap
every one that says just buy a v8 is right. just start out with a v8 and use all that money to upgrade that. and the 3 piece spoiler looks ok in my opinion. i got an ss after market spoiler off ebay for 150 and i only had to do a little body work. if your mechanically inclined i would say that looks more bad ***. it has the center supports out of the bottom and it doesnt look like a stick on. thats just my opinion tho.
