Default 3.4 Intake Manifolds And Turbos

As most of the 3.4 owners know, one of the main problems of the engine is that Y shaped intake plenum is horribly designed as Gm wanted to incorporate a racing look to the engine with the shape and while it looks like it would flow well, the inside is only around 1.25" in diameter, then cause the air to be split then be forced down two 45 degree bends. The Grand Am Gt/Alero 3400 SFI has aluminum heads, roller rockers, and a well designed intake manifold, So anyways I guess what I was wondering after seeing all of the FFF (Force Fed Fab) 3.4's and other turbo'ed 3.4, why haven't they taken this route? Its a direct bolt on and it only makes sense to me that if you are trying to get all the potential out of this engine why wouldn't you want to put on the 3400 manifold that has way more ability to distribute the air that they are pumping into these engines?

So what your saying is that I can go to a junkyard and pick the Grand Am GT's air intake stuff and bolt it on my camaro's 3.4 and have better airflow?

Has anyone actually tried this? Does it work? Do you have to reprogram the PCM to handle the better airflow?

it does work, but you need the whole top end out of the grand am, including pistons, to avoid having your compression ratio skyrocket

2fast check you pms.
And you might be able to change your pistons not sure but I imagine it wont be easy to do it with the engine still in the car.

wat about pms but in a earlier post they said if i changed my heads and manifolds and roller rockers my compression would be 13;1 is that true can i run that w/out changin pistons thanks

That is extremely high compression. You dont want to run that high. Changing pistons is the best way.
The reason why its so high is the Iron heads have a compression chamber of 55cc and the alu heads have a chamber of only 28cc something like that. But thats a big difference.

I said to check you Private messages.
