The 4.3 is not bad, but for the same amount of work, why not go all the way and put in a V8 engine. The V8 always lived in Camaros but the 4.3 never did, and you may have to fabricate parts to make it fit.

I agree with Pete. Do put a 4.3 in your gonna have to do damn close to the same stuff to put a V8 in. One example, the trans to your 3.4 wont mate up to a 4.3. but the trans for a 4.3 will mate to a V8.
