Yikes...ok...I hear you guys. While I have the ability to do the swap, I may look into just fixing it up and putting on the stuff from the 94. I'll talk to the boy about it tonight. I will say moving it using the plow blade last night didn't do it any favors...

I was under the impression that the 3800 was a 60 degree engine and we could toss in the long block and call it a day.

We do have access (read for free) a 3800 out of a 99 Grand Prix GT. Same motor?

No the 3800 is not a 60deg motor, its a 90 deg and the grand pix block is the same, but you would need to reuse your intakes, oil pan, front cover etc......

Back again! Waking up this thread.
We still have the 94 Camaro and have done a ton to it. We purchased a 96 Camaro RS and used it as a donor. I installed the T-Tops, electric windows, electric mirrors, and electric locks into the 94. The biggest challenge on the wiring was getting the BMC wired up right to make the stuff work. The 96 was an automatic, the 94 is a 5-speed.
Right now we're in the middle of swapping in the 3800 motor.
Progress so far:
- T-5 updated with bellhousing and throw-out bearing (which needed a different front bearing support in the trans)
- clutch hydraulics changed out to support the new throw-out bearing
- new flywheel (3.4 has 6 bolts to the crank, 3.8 has 8 bolts to the crank)
- new clutch/pressure plate (old one didn't have holes for the pins in the flywheel)
- installed new rear main seal while I had it apart
- swapped out the engine harness (automatic) for a manual harness
- K-member and motor mounts changed out (96 motor mounts are off-set and the right side is a different mount than on the 94)
- new radiator hoses installed (different diameters and angles)
- new heater hose adapters installed (metal versions, clever design)

So, the 3800 is in the car and we're bolting it up. The power steering pump is different but not that big a deal. I matched up the wiring from the 3.4 harness whey they go into the passenger compartment and they're almost identical. Only two connections seemed different - one being power from BAT to the ECM.

Question 1: The 94 T-5 VSS is different and I don't see any threads on a conversion for the 96 VSS the ECM is expecting. While I can swap out the plug, from reading, it seems that the Pulses Per Minute are different between the years. I may have to pick up a 96 T-5 transmission and 96 cluster.

Update again for those that might follow this path.
- GM heater hose assembly - Part number 1925717
- Painless VATS bypass (the EMC is expecting a different signal than the 94 provides)
- - needs a 5volt power source - pick up a 12v to 5v converter to power it
- T-5 transmission VSS is different and I can't find a converter for speedometer signal - i probably will need a T-5 from a 96/97

So, the car runs good and goes down the road good. We need to find a idle surge problem when warm but we're close to finishing this install. Looking back, I'd probably just have rebuilt the 3.4L with a cam and headers and installed some 4:10's, but it's cool to have done it and the motor pulls much better than the 3.4.

I am glad you got it going. There is tons of info out there on 94 3.4 to LT1 swaps just not much on this.

I just sold my 96 5 speed that needed a windshield and had a few dents in it for $800. I had it on craigs list for a month at $850 and the only person that called was the guy that bought it. Three weeks with out a single reply. It would have been perfect for you as it had a centerforce dual friction clutch and a hurst short throw on it. That one you could have drove home
