Default 1996 camaro rs problem

When I start the car it doesnt run right. It shakes like crazy and if you go to rev it up its not strong at all. So I let it sit for an hour and when I started it back up the car was fine but the SES light stays on now. I took it to autozone and they told me it could be the o2 sensors or fuel filter. I really dont think its the fuel pump though but could it be that?

what is the code? The studdering does not sound like an O2 sensor, but it could be a fuel filter if the filter is extremely clogged. To me it sounds more like a missfire. Missfires can be caused by many things incuding clogged fuel filter. Check it out a little more before you start throwing parts at it.

My car is acting weird aswell and I'm getting the o2 sensor code also. I think that maybe it could be your o2 sensor. What code was it because there Is different codes for different o2 sensor problems. The fuel filter if you haven't replaced it in the last 40-60k miles then you should replace it regardless. It's a easy job you just to be able to lift the car a good foot.

okay I just got back in from putting a new fuel filter on it. The old one looked like it was on their for well over what there suppose to be so im hoping that solved the problem. It took awhile and some adjustments (Little metal clamp) to the rubber pipe so that it would stop leaking but we finally got it done. Well see how it starts in the morning.

Also, we looked for the fuel pump/filter fuse but we could not find it so we just disconnected the battery before taking off the old filter
