1996 3.8L V6 Camaro mystery problem. Help?

I want to thank everyone for their responses and help. I got her running cherry, better than she ever has.
@Gorn - I thought about what you said.
"Many of the parts you mentioned that you had "tested" will pass most tests is they are failing randomly. A coil and a modual can pass every static "test" and still be the problem..."
I thought it was a/the coil(s) from the start (after eliminating the plugs), but shocked me that the mechanic said they were fine. If it's a random misfire/short and not a totally dead coil, of course it won't show up as faulty when tested statically and not under load.
I gathered the cash and bought 3 new ignition coils. After getting to those pain-in-the-butt bolts holding the ICM to the aluminum heat-sink, I popped em on and she ran beautifully.
Thanks so much for the info. I picked up some tools and a repair manual for any future issues.
