Transmission Shot?

Transmission Shot?
I got a 95 Firebird LT1 with an automatic transmission. Well apparantly I got a leak in my transmission somewhere and all the fluid leaked out. I was driving to a friends house and I parked it. We went to leave i put it in reverse and it didnt go anywhere. When I put it in nutrual it drove forward. Also when I put it in park it seemed like it tried to go forward but it stopped. So we pushed it back and drove home. The car shifted through all the gears fine and didnt seem any different other than the reverse didn't work. Does anyone know if im going to need a new trans or if I can fix the one I have somehow?

RE: Transmission Shot?
If you leaked fluid everywhere the transmission seal probably busted on you. It was probably moving around and acting weird because it had no fluid in it. But from my experience it auto's the first gear to screw up when your tranny's about gone is reverse. Check out the seals and filter. See if that helps if it doesn't you can get your transmission rebulit for somewhere around a grand. However you might be better off going to a junk yard and getting one from a wrecked car or at a salvage yard.

RE: Transmission Shot?
Yea I refilled the tranny with oil and still didnt work. I found out that its leaking out of the oil fill tube, right where it goes into the oil pan. Im thinking when I ran it out of oil it got all screwed up. I think im going to goto a junkyard and get another transmission
