The T56 is self bleeding???
 

I just installed a new clutch and slave on the ls1 and was looking for easy ways to bleed it.

I was just reading on different ways of bleeding the clutch fluid and some say the T56 is self bleeding, just pump the clutch a couple hundred times??

Is this true???????????

If not ill probably just mock up a DIY mittyvac and drill a hole to access the bleeder screw. Using both methods should have it bled in no time.

Is the bleeder screw the valve above the hydraulic valve on the slave? Or is it on the trans?

Not true. People probably say that because there really isn't an easy way to do it.

However, this video: shows a really easy way to do it that most people don't realize.

cool. way better than the 1000 stomp bleed. and no bleeders on either master or slave if i remember right.

haha yeah, I haven't done it yet but when I searched for it on tech I found so many complaining about doing it, and then someone posted that video

I'm actually doing that right now but its not working the clutch kicks back fine but it doesn't feel like there's enough pressure

actually I just did a test I tried to spin the wheels when it was in 1st gear and they wouldn't spin but when I put the clutch in and try to spin the wheels they would spin so maybe my clutch is working fine

dont start it in gear,,,,with the clutch pushed in. specially if your in a garage. lol.

Lol that would end terribly! Well the clutch pedal feels like a feather now but it works great. Great method for bleeding. Cost me $8 and I didn't need a helper.

The new clutch install went A1. Took me 3 days on jackstands.

So the method on that video actually works? You sucked it in, pulled the peice up, but left it in the reservoir? Then blew back in? Or did you pull the tip completely out of the reservoir then dropped it back in then blow back in? I'malittle confused. I need to try bleeding my slave cylinder

I put the tip into the hole in the reservoir, sucked fluid out, pulled it back out and emptied it into the reservoir. Did that for 5 minutes.
Than I sucked fluid into the hose without any air bubbles and blew it back into the reservoir hole filling the line with fluid. Did that for another 5 minutes while trying to pump the clutch 100 times in between doing all of this.

I'd just follow the video. Either way if you do a lot of sucking a blowing it will eventually work. lol

It eventually worked. Engaged the clutch with a stick, trans in gear and was able to rotate the tires which means it worked.
Dropped the car on the ground and drove off happy!
