complete t5
I just picked up a 98 camaro. 3.8 V6, 5speed T5
Threw a rod out of the block.
This is going to be my project car and I'll eventually put an LS in it.
The question is, if I included all things required to convert a V6 automatic to a manual what would the value of the "T5 conversion kit"? Any help would be appreciated.
* * Yes I am aware there is a classified section. This isn't an add yet * *

i think your talking about a frankincar which is not worth as much as it is with the stock motor in it. pick up a low mile 3.8, doesnt matter if its fwd or rwd you can use the intake and such off your motor. once you get that done you can keep it or sell it and pick up a v8 camaro. the trans is not much cheaper than doing the motor. gota have a crabload of stuff to do the trans switch.

Is the question what would it cost to do the convertion or what would if be worth once its done?
My Guess would be to find all the parts you would need for the convertion your going to have $1000 plus a lot of labor. The 5 speeds will sell for only a coupe of hundred more then an automatic depending on your are market. You do know the 5 speed will not work behind the LS?

If by everything you mean the section of your floor and your computer I would guess about $600 if the T5 has low miles and a decent clutch, closer to $400 if it has over 100K on it. Might take you awhile to find a buyer. Not a lot of people putting that much effort into V6's anymore. Not when you can buy a V8 car with a blown headgasket for $800 and have it back on the road in a weekend and $250.

Either way that value you've given the T5 in a complete conversion kit seems to be very cheap. I really hope your wrong.

I paid $1000 for a complete 1996 Car with a 5 speed, Garage kept and dealer serviced. Paint looked great interior was flawless except for a 2" crack in the dash because it had a rods knock. That was 2 years ago. I just bought a T56 Complete with they hydralic system and new clutch with 35,000 miles on it for $950. The only reason I paid the $950 was because of the miles. I would say my estimate may be a little high.
No you can not find a repairable LS1 for anywhere near the above price. I am talking LT1 350. For your LS1 swap your going to need a complete donor car. I suspect your going to be looking at $2500-3K for a running wrecked LS1 camaro if its at or below 100k. If your not sure why you will need a donor check out the V6 section there is a sticky there and there is a current project going on in the project sub folder from a guy doing the V6 to V8 swap.
Just so you know I am not BSing you both the V6 and V8 project on in my sig.

I know your not bsing. I just of hoped. I checked your projects. Thanks for being real.
so...3.8 v6 with a 5 speed....
The engine has a golf ball size hole in the block. I am not at all familiar with these engines. What 3.8 or others will drop right in with little or no modification?
*if its already posted on here i apologize. link me...

Here your in luck, Check out the V6 forums, Just about ANY 3800 seires II 1995-2004 will work in the long block form. Long blocks is the base engine itself so if you pull a motor from a FWD car you will need to put some of your bolt-on part on it. Also in the V6 section they talk about using a 3800 seires III (much new motor) a little more power and a little stronger.
