4l60e problem
I have looked in the forum and couldnt find an answer so maybe someone can help. Car shifts normal then after a couple minutes it just revs like it s slipping. I have all gears including OD before this problems occurs. Manually shifting does not work nor do any gears when this problem happens. After sitting for a while it while function normally for about a minute then back to slippage. I replaced the original trans. b/c of this very problem and now this is doing it which leads me to believe its not the trans itself. I also dont believe it to be an issue of the trans fluid getting too hot b/c sometimes it does it before the fluid has a chance to get hot. Lately when this is happening the transmission makes a weird noise kinda like a whining/grinding noise which stops once the car is turned off but resumes right before it starts slipping. Commen sense tells me its possibly the front pump but the thing is this worked PERFECTLY for over a month and now its doing this. The old tranny worked fine for the 6 years ive owned the car before having this problem. Im not real big on electronic trans. so maybe someone can point me a direction to start at. So heres a quick recap...
96 3.8 camaro 4l60e runs and shifts fine until i get about 1 mile or 2 down road then it slips and i have NO gears even if i try shifting manually. Let it sit for a few minutes and this cycle repeats itself. And fluid level is NOT the problem. This car is not a toy or race car, its my daily driver that i depend on to get back and forth to work. Thanks

sounds like a sensor is coming into play when you warm up a bit and its telling the trany your not going anywhere or the throttle position is at a low point. have it scanned for codes at the motor and at the trany. usually takes a gm shop or trany shop to scan transmissions.
