Default Spring/Shock Install Problem

I own a '98 v6 convertible Camaro and recently installed Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs. The rear install went perfectly, however, I now face a problem concerning the front spring/shock assembly. I removed it without difficulty, and I am aware that I need a spring compressor to remove the springs from the old shock and install the new springs into the new shock absorber. I dropped off the two old front assemblies and the new springs and shocks at a local shop but they say that the new eibach lowering springs do not fit into the old hardware which transfer from the old assembly to the new. The bottom plate doesn't permit the spring to properly fit... And I'm positive that I purchased direct replacement springs and shocks. Any suggestions?

Also, I have a small amount of rust surrounding each of the rear wheel wells and I'm curious as to whether or not I could use a rust remover to clear up the spots and potentially repaint the areas (because I already had an autobody shop completely replace the metal on the drivers' side rear wheel well once).

*poof of magic smoke*

There you go! I'm not sure what advice to give you as far as your springs go, I don't have much experience with the V6 setup. I know on my Subaru the front springs didn't quite sit on the bottom of the struts correctly, but it wasn't too far off so I just mounted them up. Have you seen the issue they're telling you about?

it may be a problem with the Bilstein shocks, I know some suspension components say thay they will not work with those particular shocks. I'm trying to understand why you didn't go down to checker and rent some spring compressors and do it your self though takes about 10-15 minutes per spring.

what set of springs did u get? where did u get them?

yes u need to get the rust off as best u can and seal with rust inhibitor, then for under or inside the fender use some undercoating to help keep it from happening again.
