Talking Weird tuning

Hey guys, I have a 96 Camaro RS. The 3.8, NOT THE 5.7 lol I say that because whenever you look for parts thats all you can find. Anyways, I installed a cold air intake and some flowmasters on my car. Since i completely changed the way my air is flowing, do i need a special computer chip now? I think most cars do, i was told either change my exhaust or intake and not both. Thanks for the help

No tuning needed for those mods. Headed are a good bolt on for the 96. those exhaust manifolds are restrictive. In 98 GM redesigned them. Still no tuning needed.

Until you change the CAM you not really going to see a big change with a tune. PCM for less used to do mail order tunes, you sent in your PCM and they flash it with their tune but they stopped doing the 96 and 97. There is some problems tuning the 96, I have heard its best to buy a 97 PCM and get that tuned for your car, again unless to do a lot to the engine its tuff to justify a mail in tune.

I redid a blown 96 5 speed with a low miles engine with a gutted cat, flow master cat back OBX headers and a Cold air intake and drove it for 100,000 miles on the original tune and got 30 MPG on the highway the whole time.

when searching for v6 parts on say ebay put in 2002 camaro v6 3800 shortens the list of parts, cold air in near any 4th gen the cost is more then the hp you get on ls1 cold air adds 5hp ,on a 3800 1hp,kills me why guys spend $200.00 for like 3hp ,an they keep puting them on there cars ,cone filters allow so much more dirt in the throttle body ,over time it does more hurt then help,

with v6 cars cat back or exhuast adds a liltle ,but better of with a thrush kit from autozone an some tips, much cheaper same result

FYI 2002 and 1996 intake parts are not interchangeable. When GM redesigned the hood in 1998 they changed the intake angle.
