Your LS1 PCM is going to be looking for your anti theft system. The Vats system is only one part of that. Its also going to check the BCM for the VIN information. This is so someone can't just bring their PCM and steal a car. At some point you will need to program out all of anti theft system from the PCM which would include the vats system. Any hand held unit or person who tunes car can do this on the cheap. I have a local guy that that gets PCM from the u-pull-it lots and strips all that stuff out of them and resells them.

Maybe someone selling a turn key system for this swap now? Maybe you bought all the harnesses needed?

we got all the wire harness and everything. The pcm is reading everything else. But the key and switch I got with it got damaged so we got another one. But the pcm and the key pellet read different ohms. So I was wondering if I do the bypass to read the ohms on the pcm instead and leave the switch connections that send the signal to the pcm disconnected. Would that help disable the security problem. Also I have a bypass control module thaT connects to the pcm. Not sure where exactly it goes connected though...

The key and switch ohm alignment is part of the Vats system, The Vats system is part of the anti-theft system. You will need to disable the Anti-theft system because of the Vin number. Once the anti-theft is disabled you can start your car with a screw driver. This is how people put LS motors in old cars.

There is a lot of electronic that is different from the V6 to the V8. It kind sounds like you don't know everything you are going to need to get this going? You know you need a V8 dash?

What year is the V6 car? What year is the LS1 PCM?

Edit: There is a thread that lists all the electronic items needed for this swap. I thing Gary post a complete list. I can not find it. Anyone else got the link?

No such thing as a 1994 LS.

First LS was in 1997 in the Corvette only. The first one in a Camaro was 1998. That is why the whole front end changed. The LS was taller then the LT1.

FYI Since I assumed 98 or above LS PCM everything I wrote above is wrong. Your still going to have issues with the theft control system but the 98 up is OBD2 and easier to handle. I am not sure of the process on a 94. 94 and 95 are both odd years. With 94 being OBD1 and 95 being OBD1.5. Just scanning for codes is tuff

In the V6 tech section there is a V6-V8 swap sticky thread. There is a lot of joking around about how much work it is but if you read through it there is a link to a web page that lists everything you need to do a 3.4 to LT1 swap. I don’t have time to track it down right now.

I found the link. It gives you a detailed list of parts that are needed. As I feared the dreaded "W" is required. That means all the wiring from the donor car. Then your key will need to match the ohms of the donor cars or you have to by pass it.

Make sure you read carefully. The is a chart at the bottom of the page the list if car is X and engine is From Y then change this. You will see what I am talking about with the "W"

3.4/3.8 V6 to LT1
