Ellswortha, Awsome build so far. I just started reading Your thread from Your first post. You're actually doing what many only talk about.I did somewhat of a similar build a long time ago. The more people said I was nuts, the more inspiration I got! That was long before Internet and forums like this. You got a lot of great advice since the start. Sometimes the best lesson learned, is from a failure. Keep pluggin' and You'll have no regrets. Thanks for all the photos also!

Welp... I feel stupid. Was getting ready to take the starter off to bring in and saw the terminal going to my ignition switch was loose. I tighten it up and it worked great! So then I had to figure out how to hook it up to my key on the steering column because the purple starter wire wasn't getting power with the PCM out, so after wiring the ignition switch to the neutral safety switch and hooking it RIGHT up there (just for today, I'll put a relay in soon), It started flawlessly. I had to bypass the Theft Deterant Module completely because it wasn't getting any input from the PCM. (in case anyone else runs in to this, just basically find a yellow wire or hook the starter to the brown wire by the shifter).

Some wiring that I need to shorten up but I think overall my setup has been very minimal and clean so far.

Bolted my dash back in... Now does anyone know how to run throttle cables?

After I wired in my ignition, and set the distributor up, I ran it for a few seconds

Looking good man. Hooking up the throttle should be str8 forward. Go to your local parts store and get a universal throttle cable for sbc.it comes with everything you need Run it through your existing hole in the fire wall or you might have to drill a new hole and plug the existing up if it doesn't line up good enough. It's fairly simple

Be carful with that fuel filter and line just sitting on top of Ur water pump. Bracket it or make sure there's little slack in that line. What have you decided on with hood clearance? Cowl hood? What headers are plan on using? Will LTs fit?

The fuel line is just temporary, Im gonna change it to a AN8 and run it tightly behind the block. Im gonna run it without a hood for a while and eventually put a dual plane intake on it and a low profile air cleaner setup and get it under the stock hood. Im just gonna use some standard long tubes with 3" collectors from summit. The UMI Kmember helps a TON with header clearance and most should fit (to my knowledge)

Good thread so far, subscribed. I read all the engine build and swap threads on this site and wish I had half the knowledge everyone else does to at least do a LITTLE something to mine

Next time you plan on starting the engine, do us all a favor and get a video. Even if it's only a few seconds, it's worth it for the thread

Okay, I have some old rusty sbc headers I'm gonna put on so I'll take a short video after that. Im just a little worried about running it without a radiator, idk how long i can run it for? And does anyone know if there's a list somewhere with all the headers that fit with a tubular k member? I'm nervous to buy a pair and waste my money if they don't fit. I'm sure there's room but I'm worried most about the steering column coming out of the firewall.

And DDRDiesel, I'm sure you could easily do this stuff, Ha i'm just 17. I don't know as much as I like to think I do haha

You may be able to use some standard LT in there. Make sure the exhaust ports are the same design. Give me a sec, might have another vid for you if you have welder.

As far as running it without a radiator, you can do for a few minutes but I wouldn't go any more than five minutes without it. When we put the 318 in our Satellite we ran it for about two minutes without a radiator (waiting on it to be shipped) just to dial in some things and to hear it run. Do you still have the original radiator? You could use that as a temp one
