Yesterday one omy brand new tires (3 months old) started cracking really bad in the sidewall. So I took it to my local Michelin dealer to see of they could warrantee it. They dismounted it only to find cracks in my brand new replica LE SS wheel. The wheel was only 6 months old and the tire was 3 months old at most. The tire shop that mounted the wheel and tire had to use a hammer to get the wheel off the car to take off the old tire and I'm guessing that they cracked it in process. The tire manufacturer won't warrantee the tire because the wheel is cracked and the company that mounted my wheels and tires won't pay for the damages... Great. Time to save up for another replica wheel and tire ($400)...

Holy crap. Are you sure those are splits on the tire and not cuts? And what's with those dings on the wheel rim, is that where they were hammering on it? If so, you need to talk to someone, like maybe the state's attorney's office, because that's shoddy workmanship that they should be standing behind. Hammering on an aluminum wheel? No way!

They claim that they only hit the tire with the hammer and not the wheel.

So then do you have any idea what put those marks on the wheels? Have you been hitting any deep potholes?

No. No potholes for me. I'm very careful with my wheels. That wheel was brand new. It must have been them and their hammer so now I'm contemplating all new z06 wheels. I can get a full set at oewheelsllc for like $500 brand new. All of my wheels (except the damaged one) have bad curb rash from the previous owner. Maybe it's time to retire the LE SS wheels

Im with you Chaotic. Thats gotta be from some idiot pounding on the tire and hitting the rim with the hammer. I would be livid.

I am but my friends dad had the same thing happen and he tig welded his aluminum wheel 6 years ago and it's still holding up good. Might as well try it since the wheel is already trashed.
