Chaotic's Progress Thread

19 Attachment(s)
Ok so I've done some work to my car restoring it and doing some tasteful mods. I'm getting ready to do ALOT of interior work to it too. So I figured I would post up a progress thread from start to where it sits today. I'll post up photos as the car progresses. Comments appreciated.

Here's where I started:
Stock as a rock. Busted fog lamp lens. Driver's seat ripped beyond belief. Headliner was sagging. All kinds of stuff was messed up.

I had the headliner resurfaced: Pics tomorrow!!!

I decided to rear end a Camry and ended up with this:

It got patched up with some lingerie!

Then I decided to do a little modding. I started with the tail lights.

Then I had an exhaust system put on.

I then decided to black out the turn signals and side markers.

Then I moved my way to the interior and put in a Kendood KDC-MP242 head unit, RE-Audio speakers, a new shift knob, and an ashtray lid.

I also got snarky and threw a home woofer in the car. For those who are wondering, this woofer will pound really hard and sounds better than most systems I've heard.

Yesterday I bought a new driver's seat. In perfect condition! And on top of that, it's powered. My old one was manual. Pics of it in the car will come tomorrow.

Soon to come: A new driver's side door. All new interior panels, door panels, and carpet in ebony. Mine is currently light gray. Should have a good outcome. Power windows and locks will be installed shortly as well. I also snagged a K&N Cold Air Intake for about $100 yesterday. That will be installed soon too! Oh and just for the number, everything in the pictures below fit in the back of my car. The seat, door, all plastic panels, door panels, carpet, and the cold air intake. Yeah. I can pack.

Got some good deals on those parts. Keep posting your progress.

But why didn't you put this in 4th gen? :p

Chaotic94 Jan 23, 2011 08:37 PM

Because I'm retarded like that. LOL Can a mod please move this to the 4th gen section. Thanks in advance!

I was going to ask you what your definition of progress was when I first read the title. Progress means moving forward but your histroy with Camry's and trailers said otherwise.

Now that I see you have aquired a few nice new parts I can see progess being made. Now lets see everything installed in the car!

so are you officially keeping this thing, rather than shopping around for something else?

Chaotic94 Jan 24, 2011 05:47 PM

The interior install will not take place until I get the guts out of a passenger door that had power windows and locks. I found a cross dash harness. So I WILL be upgrading to power windows and locks. And for the record, I've decided to keep the car until it blows up. Which I hope doesn't happen any time soon. Eventually I will do a motor rebuild similar to Socom's

I hope you don't go broke. You're a college student and this car has given you a lot of trouble from what you told described in the past. I hope its worth it.

Chaotic94 Jan 24, 2011 07:37 PM

You're right. It's given me nothing but hell but I don't have the heart to part with it. For now it stays. If it blows up, I'll save the money to rebuild it.

As I was reading I remembered what I did to my Camaro when I first got it. I had the headliner redone first. Then I replaced my ugly chrome shift knob with one that looks exactly the same as yours. Then I replaced a Sony deck with a Kenwood that looks very similar to yours. My tail lights were already replaced when I got the car, and I am still looking for a new ask tray cover to replace my broken one. I am now in the process of trying to convince a friend to sell my his power seats. Hmmm, guess I better watch out for Camrys now :P
