when you hear the stories about some guys putting 60k in these cars ,its true they only get about 1 3rd back ,now I only have about 14k in the 95 an like 9k on the engine, lookback I should have just built the lt1 up ,lesson is don't put an engine that fits but takes so much work an time to get it right ,this 2002 z28 is staying stock ,then the nice part is the ls1 plaform is just so much more thing one can due over the lt1

Pretty hard to get money back invested in most cars, even harder these 4th gen Camaros but I love mine.
I'm in it a little over $20K now after paying $8K for it with 86K miles and still plan on a few more mods.
To the right buyer who appreciates all the mods I'd be lucky to get $15-18k if I sold it and it would take some time but I didn't build it to sell.

yes most people only want to pay about 30% on these cars i got mine for 5k with 89k on it,was to much ,i put 2 k in it I so far ,will do another 2 3k in it,i have seen 2002 ss cars for $6500.00 sell before I could buy ,right time right place ,I seen a 98 pace car with 10k miles sell on mecum a few weeks ago for 10k it may have been a 97 lt1,that 2002 ss I mention was a 35th edition that needed minumal work with 50k on the clock, the ls1 platform is just better for building over the lt1 ,slow but sure ,though now people want the lsx or ls2 or newer ,I seen a lsx 5.3 in a 2006 Colorado all they did was put in a better cam ,an the engine stock dyno was 1000 + hp ,gorn turned me on to that ,the engine had one bent rod was it ,so I went out an bought 2 lsx engines for $700.00 each an hope to resell them or build one,my 2002 is clean ,but still not worth more then the 5k I paid, that is what makes it a keeper,

most of us with 4th gen cars, built or restored in my case I only want to get 50 k more out of the engine ,I only average 5 to 7 k miles per year ,once a car gets to 100k even with a rebuilt engine ,guys unless they live in places where they sell for a bit more ,would be surprised that cars only worth about 5 k with a remen rebuilt engine done right,if its track ready mabey a few grand more ,
I see guys asking 5k for a car with 125k on it good luck when I got mine with 90k for 5k I have seen better deals on 4th gens ls1 too ,when an if in our life the 4th gens gets some value the 96 97 ss will be first to get value as the ss was gone for like 23 years, guys will want a stock zs8 or a stock ss ,so they wont want to pay anymore for a built one ,if only a bit more ,but they love the car an it rare though some people over pay for these cars too east coast they sell for cheap ,but got to shop too for the good prices ,couse there is allways that guy who thinks his 4th gen is a classic its rare ,classic antique true ,but rare worth money not yet ,like said the 96 ss is slowly getting looked at ,some 3rd gens are geting value at a very slow pace too ,mostly the iroc z,i know on the west coast they cost like 2 to 3 k more in certain places too

4th gen great for rebuild or builds, but most want a stock car when it comes to resale,an wont pay a ton more for a built up my 95 406 is a great example 7 k on the remen engine ,all new componants serpentine 14k 99k on the 99"9 & rust free body ,but will sell for like 6k ,couse its now a 5 year old build this summer ,this takes the right guy to get 8K + lesson for me is no monster cars ,needs a ford rear end though the stock one has held up don't know how it the 500lbs of torq ,its just more power then thse cars were made to handle ,that is another big thing I hear about the 4th gens nice engine but the rest of the car was not built to handle the power of even a stock engine ,is why most guys put lot of aftermarket parts frame connectors you name it

They do go for a bit more up there in the Pacific NW but there aren't many here in nice shape and in places like Seattle and Portland there's a lot of people with money.
I searched for 6 months to find an acceptable deal when I bought mine and had to pay $8000 to get it but it was exceptionally clean.
I found a few others real nice for a bit less but they were automatics and I wanted a 6 speed.

that is just about right for the area you live ,nice out there I spent some time in Portland an washington state ,that is what all 4 gen owners say ,places like penn newyork down the east coast there are a lot more ,one day though the cars ,I think they will get value ,as v8 cars are just rare ,take the Dodge charger most police cars now ,couse ford don't make an affordable v8 anymore ,one can get one of those for a desent price still though cars are exspencive

we have had a light winter so far ,anyone with a snowmobile was out of luck unless they took it 200 miles north ,more rain this year is a sign of an early spring hear ,I had my 95 for 11 years now the first 6 years I had the car out in the first week in march average, last few years its been april ,so we get 8 month average one year I had my car out for 10 months some years only 7 months ,we are over the hump though no doubt the weather should be breaking for you soon too
