2000 v-6 coversion to v-8
 

i have never done this sort of thing to any car, but i thought it would be a good time to start because my v-6 motor blew and i wanted a v-8 for awhile, me and a friend took out the motor, the radiator (because previous owner put stop leak in it-caused motor failure), the automatic trans (stuck in drive), and thats all i have tooken off the car. i need help, i have searched all over trying to find some sort of step-by-step but cant find any, i would love some feedback on my project.

buy a full donor car. it the only way really, otherwise (and even still) you are better off just getting a v8 car and not doing the swap at all

In the V6 section there is a a V6 to V8 sticky that starts off as a joke but there are some links later in the post. Reality check is this swap is beynd most begineer capibilitys. As stated above your going to have to strip the car down to a shell and swap everything to do with the motor including the fuel system and the wiring harness all the way to the dash. The reason you can not find a step by step is because it would be a 400 page book.

The doner car is the valuble part in this swap, That is why the above project is a good swap cause he has a known good driveline. Imagine doing all that work and when you fire up the motor there is a knock? Or after the car gets hot the oil pressure falls to zero. V6 bodies are cheap and common Low miles LS1 with trannies are neither cheap or common.
