1999 Camaro Conversion V6 to V8

Hey there, i have quite a few questions about the swap form a V6 to a V8. I know that it is very costly and there are alot of parts that are in need to be switched. The reason I would like to do this is because i cant let my car go would like to get some more power behind the wheel. But as far as that goes, my main questions are what would i need in order to do the switch. This will be a project that will last probably a couple years, but i would like to save up the money and purchase the parts i need over time. But i am aware that there will be parts that need to beefen up the front end to hold the weight of a V8 and i would like a part list if possible. Thanks all for the help

Complete donor car is the biggest part you're going to need. This is the easiest and most cost effective way to do the swap. The only thing that wouldn't come with a donor car that'd need beefed up is the rear end. Other than that, your parts car will supply the rest of the needed parts.

Well at least the donor car will have an LSD rear end with the correct gears that the LS1 computer is tuned for. The rear end in the donor car will suffice until you start adding extra ponies under the hood.

+1 on the donor car. I believe there is a sticky for this swap in the section

There should be a sticky in this section for you I think by Massey

Massey did a fwd 3800 engine swap thread. Not sure if he did the v8 swap thread tho.

Socom did the 6 to 8 swap. LT1 not LS1 though: https://camaroforums.com/forum/93-02...-thread-68658/

+1 on the doner car but I would add the doner car of the same year. That can save issues with the electronic. You basily have a network in your car. Once you start changing parts you can have all kinds of issues. There is a thread in the V6 section it starts as a joke but latter on there is some information.

The swap really does not make a lot of sense. For what you are going to pay for a low miles wrecked LS1 camaro you could just add $1500 to it and buy a drivable low miles LS1 Camaro and keep you beloved V6 in working order. The problem is the low miles LS1 are in huge demand from hot rodders. I have been seeing a lot of Camaro decent looking shells showing up on the market that where bought to be doner cars because the LS1 was worth as much as the car.
