02 Base V6- walkway or dive in

​​​​​​​A sweet lady at work asked me to take a look at her grown daughter's 02 base model that has been sitting in her driveway for 5+ years and possibly buy to fix up. It was stalling out and not restarting for a while so they parked it and bought a new car. Sounds like a fuel pump issue to me. I have no problem doing the work to drain fluids, blow out lines, replace fuel pump, tires, and replace the intake manifold gaskets (I hear they are bad on the 3.8)

​​​​​​But here is what has me running away: The daughter received the car at 50K miles and did zero maintenance. Carfax shows one oil change at 63K and that's it. Vehicle has 105k on it now. I checked the vehicle over. No codes, oil was low and black as night. Trans fluid was tannish pink. Coolant was extremely low. Tires are bald. And then there's the mystery of what caused this:

My question is "Do these engines/transmissions survive abuse or is this engine likely toast"?

​​​​​​​What do yall think? Worth the $2K I will fork out to get it running or best to walk away? Thanks for your input.
