Default How to remove shifter ****?

Is there a certain way to remove the shifter **** on a 99 Z 6spd? I couldn't get it to unthread for crap. Is it loctited on from the factory or something? my stock one has a stiched leather peice on it and its all worn down and I have a new one to replace it with but can't get it off. I'd appreciate some help fella's!

Thanks,
RR

There's a two pronged pin at the base of the lever on the dashboard side. It's difficult to see because it's in the stitching. First find it then prise it out with a small screw driver then pull it all the way out with pliers. The **** then just pulls off. It's easier to see what you are doing if you put it in secord gear.

1) That's how you get an automatic **** off, his is a 6 speed.
2) This is a 2 1/2 year old thread that androzer resurrected. Please watch the dates of the original post.
