door hinge problem?

I have a 95 Z28. Every time I open or close the door it makes a loud clicking sound and the spring clangs real loud. I can tell what is making the sound but I don't see anything wrong. I WD-40'ed the hinges and stuff but it didn't help much. Anyone ever have this problem?

does it sound like its binding it up?

Yeah kinda. It's like a loud double "clang! clang!", both when you open and close the door about half way. WD-40 just dampens the sound it doesn't actually help at all, and nothing looks broken or worn.

After looking at it again. It looks like the bottom hinge pin is sticking and causing the racket.

Alright I took a close look at the hinge making the racket a few minutes ago and I think I know what the problem is but I can't seem to fix it. On the bottom pin of both door hinges there is a little "wheel" at the top of the pin that the door hinge guide rolls on. The passanger side spins free when opening and closing the door. The driver side however seems to be frozen and after rotating a tiny bit, snaps back into place causing the clicking racket and makes the spring "clang" really loud... lol. Anyway, I am not sure if this can be taken apart and lubricated or what must be done. Has anyone dealt with this before? It doesn't appear to be easily taken apart.

Is that the roller that has the arm with the spring on it. Sprya some wd on there and let it soak in and grease the roller so the arm does not bind on it.

I've soaked it down in WD-40 twice and worked the door back and forth on it. It dampens the noise quite a bit but it's not long before it's just as loud again. Can you buy replacement door hinges for the 4th gens?

Try using some white lithium grease to lube up the wheel.
