Dash Pad Cover/Cap Question

Does anyone know if the dash pad covers that you can buy that are designed to mount over the top of the stock dash pads can be installed without having the stock dash in place?

Mine is so shattered that it cant really be put back in place. (Stepped on it when I had it out trying to fix it haha) and the covers are a lot cheaper than oem replacement

Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, those things are glued onto the original dash piece. I don't think you can actually use it as a replacement.

Why don't you try junkyard replacements instead? I don't think the sun would do damage to a dash that isn't damaged in such a short amount of time.

i have seen members glue the oem pad back together and put the cap on it. i think its a fitting issue without the pad, the cap will not stay in place without pad.

Where can you find these pads?

you may want to check out 6LE Designs LLC, he has dash pads that he makes that are stronger then stock. Those things are impossible to find in one piece anymore

wow 170 bucks is a great deal.

I think its a little pricey to be honest, when you factor in shipping, its 220 bucks to your doorstep, if you wait until around the holidays (after you've spent all your money already) he normally hands out 20% off deals which essentially negates the shipping, but yeah, I need to order one for my car, I just can't bite the bullet

$160 with free shipping :icon_mrgreen:

thats a cap that goes over the dash pad, for 10 more bucks and shipping you can get the dash pad from 6le.

Cheeks 10-03-2013 08:49 AM

just fyi, 6LE just sent out a message on facebook saying if you enter code "CMJ" in at checkout, you get 15% off your order

I installed one of the covers over my existing cracked pad and it actually doesnt look bad,but as said before the cap just glues to the original dash pad so if theres no pad i dont think a cap will work

Yeah you can put one of those covers on with no actual dash underneath, that's how I have it on one of my cars right now.

I am building one out of fiberglass right now, and will be able to make any color/ carbon fiber once the mold is complete. It is designed to replace the broken dash pads. I will post pics as soon as I have enough posts on here.

Well I ordered one of those regular dash mats from Ebay for around $50 Shipped, and I have to wait a week because they custom make everyone of them. My buddy has the same one I'm getting and it fits just right. It has Velcro pads to stick to the dash. It looks pretty smooth.
