95 Camaro 3.4 speedometer and tachometer

Can anyone please advise me on what this issue can be, I'm assuming it is a bad cable or a loose cable. The speedo and tach are fine one minute, and the next they start going haywire, as well as when I'm doing 30mph, it is reading 90mph.
Would the location be behind the dash...front wheel..or possibly on transmission?
Thank you

speedo is electronic. sensor on trans may be failing. sounds more like the cluster is not happy. circuit board may be unhappy.

You want to scan the computer to see if that number is right. Since you are not complaining about how the trans is shifting. If the speed sensor was telling the computer bad info your transmission would be trying to correctly shift into the correct gear. I would track down the gage cluster ground straps in that manual and make sure they are clean and tight.

If you ever drove a car with a failing speed sensor and a computer controlled transmission like yours the last thing you would be worried about was the speedo as the transmission shift from 1st to 4th gear and back in a matter of about 4 seconds while you are on the highway. Not fun.

I appreciate that advice and knowledge, I will definitely look into that...
Luckily no shifting issues, especially like the one you explained
