1998 Aftermarket HeadUnit Question
I have a 1998 Z28 With the Monsoon setup. Also has the rear CD changer, however, I have that unplugged and have a AUX iPod box in my center console now. I have a Few questions.
I am looking to upgrade the system in the car. I first want to start with a new Headunit. The few qustions I have are: -If I replace the Headunit, Will the speakers still be driven by the external Monsoon amplifier? -If the external amplifier can NOT be used, depending on the quality of the Unit I buy, will the aftermarket Headunit be an upgrade of the monsoon amplifier? -The stock HU is a 1.5 DIN I believe, So I will have to buy a Single DIN HU with a mounting box? A double DIN will not fit without any major mods correct? -Does anybody have any aftermarket HU suggestions/opinions? The few things I am looking for are: -RED back lights to match the stock instrument cluster -AUX input, either on the faceplate or on the rear so I can use my iPod box. My car has the original speakers, everything still sounds good, So I don't want to replace any speakers yet. Just wanna start with the HU, assuming that will improve the sound quality over the stock setup. |
FYI with the USA Spec PA11-GM45 you can have the CD Changer connected AND this USA Spec unit!

First post here. I came across this kit earlier today. It allows for single or double din head units. I don't know much about the Monsoon system though. I'll see if I can find out something.
