Default 18 Years of Grime

So yesterday I pulled the leather seats out of my car with the intention of shampooing the entire carpet in my ride today. Once I got them out there was a TON of trash and filth under the seat in the places that the previous owner and myself couldn't reach while doing standard detailing.

I also noticed that the seats themselves were fairly dirty and had a build up of "leather care" products on them. SO, I decided to give them a good scrub down with hot soapy water. The difference is night and day. My seats are amazing now. I had no idea I was sitting on that much filth. If you have the time and leather seats I highly recommend you pull out your seats and do the same.

I am off to start shampooing the carpet in my ride now. I can only imagine the dirt I am going to be extracting out of that. I will post an update.

And make sure you "re-dress" the seats with a conditioner, or the leather will dry out, get stiff, and won't last as long before cracking.

Here's your pictures Craby:
Here is a good shot once I got the seats pulled. It was fairly dirty. Not "Farm-Fresh" barn find dirty, but dirty none the less.

Then I discovered a pleasant surprise. While I was vacuuming near the access slit in the carpet where the wiring harness would come through for the power seats on the passenger side I heard a weird rattle sound. I poked around a little, through the access slit and found a couple of quarters. Then, I pulled a couple more. After getting frustrated poking around through just a little slit in my carpet, I decided, I might want to pull up my carpet and check a little more in depth. This is what I discovered:

THAT IS $46.27!!!!!

It is not mine. Well, it is mine now. I am not sure how that much change was lost in the car. I am sure it happened all at once. Maybe the previous owner dropped a coin cup or something into his center console and it just made its way under the carpet. I would have tried to get it back if it were that much though.

Here is a quick "DURING" shot of the passenger side getting deep cleaned:

Also an after shot of the floor:

I would have to say myself considering that this is still the original 1994 carpet, that this turned out pretty bad ***. I am 100% satisfied with the work that I put into it today. Here is a sample of the water that I pulled out of the carpet. I pulled out nearly three gallons of water that looked like this:

You never REALLY know how dirty your car is until you start to clean it. Tomorrow is wash, clay bar, wax day.

Re-Dressed the seats today with this:

I have always used Meguires products, so I figured I couldn't go wrong with this stuff. Boy was I right. This stuff is amazing. Makes the leather nice and supple and not greasy feeling like a lot of other leather care products do. Also, it has a nice leather smell to it with makes the interior of my car smell of leather. I highly recommend it to others with leather seats.

Nice clean. I may have to do this myself and who knows I wouldn't mind finding $42 worth of booze money after cleaning my car. Yooper where are you located now? I know right now in the L-P we have had some insane march meeeeechagan weather.

I am currently active duty Army (Infantry) and I am stationed at Fort Riley Kansas. In June I will be going home to the UP for a month of vacation and then I will be getting stationed in Fort Benning Georgia. Back home in the UP they have been having some crazy weather too.
