Default Wtf

Yesterday morning I left for work and my car got stuck in 4th. I pulled of the road and worked it until I could get it out of gear. After 10 minutes I was able to get it into first. After getting it in first I was able to start back to my house, it was hard to get into second and third but that was good enough to get it home. After turning into my subdivision it started shift fine. It drove fine to work this morning and it drove fine then on my way back home the clutch took a dive and is stuck halfway. Need advice...

is the shifter working properly when motor is not running and there no bind/pressure on the trans? a failing clutch or master/slave cylinder can make it hard to shift. check fluid in clutch master cylinder.

If your clutch pedal was soft to the floor, then I'd also suspect a master or slave cylinder.
If the pedal felt more normal, it could be something with the pressure plate being broken.

The pedal went to the floor and I pumped it twice then it is stuck halfway down. When I turned it off I could press the clutch enough to get to try to turn over.

It does shift fine when then motors not running. I'm starting to believe the master/ slave cylinder went out.

What's the best way to pull the tranny without a lift.

first pick up a repair manual. if your comfortable with the generic manuals like chiltons then you would be better off with a factory service manual for your year, they are a little more challenging to use but much more specific to the model. heres what they look like. 96 is a two volume set. http://www.google.com/search?q=facto...tbm=shop&tbo=u
