Well, it won't get past your cat, and it's too long to turn sideways inside the pipe. Some exhaust will flow through it, the rest will go around. I wouldn't worry much about it causing a restriction.

Try to drag it up with a strong magnet. How far down do you think it went. Would one of those flexible grabbers reach? Or go fishing with a 12 or 14 ga. solid copper electrical wire, bare (the wire, not you), with a hook bent on the end. Still though, you might as well be trying to thread a needle with your eyes closed.

Harbor Freight sells a very cheap magnet on a flexible cable thing. About a yard long IIRC. I have one stuck to a beam in my basement to keep it handy. Pic if you want one. You can snake the cable down the pipe and it is stiff enough to not grab the pipe too much.
If you can't fish out the socket it won't be a problem.

It's not going to hurt anything by being in there, but you might hear a rattle, then again you might not. If it really bothers you, you can cut the pipe down low to get the socket out, then butt the pipes back together and hold it using one of these strap type exhaust clamps. Yes, they work well.
