Default Wiper Arm Problem

The driver side wiper on my '97 Z isn't working so well. It doesn't seem to have much downward pressure on the windshield. The arm moves while wiping, and moves freely when pulled up like when you change the blade. I sprayed some oil on the spring a few times without much change. If you push the arm down while its wiping it works fine. Do I need a new spring? I swapped blades without any change. The passenger side works fine (of course). The blades are only a year old and are ANCO.

spring going would be the first thing to look at. how stable is the shaft, is it worn?

The arm is tight where it goes on the shaft.

yep the arm spring is probly a gonner. they dont have alot of push down once it gets to the glass but in your case it sounds like your lookin at new arms unless you can find springs. also make sure you use the wiper blades with four supports that have eight connections to the rubber part of the blade. any other kind i have tried have sucked
