Default Why are these wires connected like this?

I can't figure out why these wires on the BCM are connected like this... The one closest to the left is two resistors bypassing the key chip, but the other two I can't figure out why there's extra wires and connectors. They should be able to be put together with just one connector. According to my repair manual, these wires should be for the door locks.

Does anybody know why they would be connected in a way like this?

I know, that's the same thing I was thinking. You should have seen the stereo wiring... Whoever worked on the wiring in this car before me should hope I never find out who they are.

You can definitely connect those wires back up directly without a stub like that. My only thought is maybe they wanted those wires open (the open spade connectors) to tap into or hot-wire the door locks for some reason. Or could be they had rigged up a separate keyless door lock setup? Does your car have a factory remote?

Yeah, I have a factory remote. Before I bought it, there was some door lock problems that had to be fixed from the aftermarket alarm it used to have.

Ah, that explains the wires being like that then.

Would that have been done for diagnostic reasons to find out why the locks weren't working?
