so you want to get the heater fan out or you want to take the dash off? heater fan is easy. like four screws and a wiring connector to unplug.

What does stripping the engine bay have to do with removing the instrument panel/dash?

So he can take the heater box out of the car to give him better access.

To remove the heater box you will need to remove the entire dash.

Remove steering column
Gently lift up on the plastic cover between the glass and the dash pad... This is held in with velcro like pads and push clips. Careful not to pull out the LED and the headlight sensor.
Crawl under dash and remove all grounds (some are behind the kick pannels), remove all connections to the taillights, doors and external harness.
Remove the union for the heater controls behind the glove box, remove the heater controls (dont forget the cable going to the mix door, removing it from the heater box works best)
Remove bolts holding dash to the cowl under the dash.
Remove bolts from top of the dash
carefully pull the dash out from the cowl and make sure that all the hoses and wires are properly disconnected and nothing is getting pulled out of where they need to be. The dash will come out with the ducting and wiring harness still attached, the passenger airbag will also come out with the dash.

um.... forgot to mention that you will need to remove the console as wel there are 2 bolts in the middle of the dash behind the console.
