I'm pretty sure it's the o2 sensors, the car was the same way before the swap, but didn't have an idling problem. How do i test the o2 sensors? the ses light is on but i went to auto zone and it said misfire (I forgot to connect an injector wire). I disconnected the battery and 30 miles later it came on agian. when i replace them, should i buy sensors for a 05 buick or a 98 camaro? or does it matter? and is denso a good brand? there $34 at rock auto

I fixed my idling problem, it was a bad pcv valve, an easy $3 fix and it idles perfectly. After i did that i thought that maybe that set off the ses light so i disconnected the battery for a little bit and the light was back on. But after driving like 25-30 miles i noticed the light wasent on any more! The car didnt run any different when it went off. Any one know why this happened? would you think my O2 senors arnt bad any more? I went to auto zone the day before i replaced the pcv and it gave a o2 senor code as an probable cause to the problem.

yesterday I replaced my driver side O2 sensor because of the code on the ses light. after i replaced it i disconnected the battery to reset the light but it was still on. I drove it for about 10 miles and it smelled kinda like gas. Then the next day i tryed starting it and it took like 3 seconds. Is the computer still trying to adjust to the new sensor or what?

Personally, if you sell it what are you going to replace it with? Unless it's a car that's 5yrs old or newer then you'll end up having to do work to the newer car you get.
So, wheigh the options between how much it's going to cost you to fix it vs the time to sell it and what car you're going to replace it with.

look the wires over that go to the 02 sensor for any signs of damage. check the plugin as well. have you thought of looking for a used exhaust at a wrecking yard? might find a setup for a v8 in your yr/style.

Ive been wanting to buy a new exhaust system but i dont really need one. So the smell of gas after a new oxygen sensor isnt normal? it didnt smell before i changed it.
Edit: I figured out why it smells like gas, The rear driver injector is leaking from the bottom. I think its because before the oxygen sensor was replaced it ran lean. Now i just have to figure out how to fix the leak.
