what is difference between ss and slp ss?
 
sorry guys new to the camaro game!!!:confused: I just bought a 97 slp ss, 6 spd, t-tops......don't really know much about the motor and tranny. what am i workin with fellas. car runs exceptionally well, just don't know what i am driving. LS1 or LT1? HP? TQ? please help!!!

you're driving an LT1...SLP is just the company that added the body parts and some various other parts to make it an SS...so there is no difference in an SLP SS and a regular SS.

LT1 came in cars from 93-97...LS1 came in cars from 98-02

If It's completely stock the LT1 was rated at 285 horsepower and 325 ft/lbs of torque. According to everyone here, and these guys are very camaro smart.. it was underated and their closer to 300 horsepower.

another question. the shifter bounces up and down when accelerateing, what does that mean? i was told it is a hurst shifter and that they all do that it doesn't grind or anything it shifts fine, just wondering

It can be multiple things. The first one I would check would be your tranny mount, because it is made of rubber and can easily be broken and make your transmission move up and down, which wouild make the shifter jump up and down in the car. It could also be in your shifter or in you rails. But all shifters will move around to some extent due to normal vibrations of the vehicle
