I have been looking for a donor car but im comming up short. 6 junkyards now and nothing but 3rd gens which make me wanna cry when i see whats happen to them. im really at a loss any help would be appreciated. thanks again

I'm on the same boat as you man.. my parents won't let me get a V8 because I'll "kill myself" and I don't have enough money to pay for my own independent insurance. So far I've put in new headers, hi flow cat, flowmaster exhaust with a cherrybomb muffler. Also put in a K&N filter and lowered the front/raised the back just a lil.. I was thinking about saving up and gettin a turbo but thats alotta money/I can't do that myself. Any suggestions would help. BTW, Whats this chip you speak of?

Dealership can’t tune your car for HP as well as custom shop can. I say this because as factory representatives they can not alter a car in a way that will effect emissions. They can be fined if they do it. This is a federal thing regardless of local emission laws.

As a general rule you need some modds done to your car before you get the tune. I can not say I have heard of anyone tuning a bone stock car but I can not imagine you would get more then 5%?

I have told you this before. These cars have been around for almost 15 years. There is not a bunch of hidden HP. Many of us belong to several different web sites we basically network out to 1000’s of other 3800 F-body guys. If there was a way to get 300 hp out of a 3800 for even two grand it would cause a wave cross those sites. There would 100 people starting it this weekend and 1000 people by the end of the month.

There are stickies, just do a search. reap, look into cold air intake and opening the exhaust. Those are the simple bolt on things... then look into internals; rockers, cam, throttle body upgrade etc...

Didnt you just buy the v-6 like a week ago? Come on man give her a chance. Just a warning, unless your car has super low miles or a rebuilt motor you dont wanna install a turbo. Turbo on an old motor= a blown motor.

Well, at least you broke the ice with the wife. Did she break anything of yours?
Now you gotta go make up a shopping list to add up all that it would cost to get 300 h.p. out of the 3.8. Then show the wife how much less it would cost to just sell the car and buy a Z28 to get the same results. BTW, even if you were to get 300 h.p. out of it, it still won't match the stump pulling torque of an 8. Unless she's not even open to the idea of you dumping money into the 6? Then you're really screwed.

Well I'm grateful I'm not married yet then.

Like others have said, Install a few bolt-ons, and just drive her.

Start a secret V8 fund
