to try and get rid of the pressure unhook the fuel line at the fuel filter. pump some fuel out of tank, jump 12 volts to the fuel pump test wire under the hood, should be on the passenger side wire harness. make sure you have the fuel line in a container to catch it. im wondering if the punp is failing and the tank is full.

there is no way the tank is full. my gas gauge doesnt work so i keep track of how much gas i put into my car and when this problem started i ran the car out of gas.

if you are getting gas coming out of the fill tube then its full of something. the fluid/gas level would have to be up to the fill hole. may be the fuel pump is failing. have you tested fuel pressure.

should have been about 50 lbs. ok after some looking, im pretty sure to turn on the pump manually you would need to jump power to the fuel pump relay plugin under the hood, terminal 85, tan&white wire. unhook at fuel filter and pump a bunch of gas out. should relieve pressure.

where will the gas come out. also my dads buddy told him he thinks the fuel filter might be clogged and is causing the pump to work harder. does that seem like a possibility.

as i said take the fuel filter off, fuel will come out of the fuel line when the pump is on. then you can check the filter out. dump filter out from the tank side in to a clear container. should give you an idea of what was in it. if your filter has the quick conntect heres some info on em. http://shbox.com/1/quick_connect.jpg

i changed the fuel filter and the old one seemed clogged. i drove it exactly 1.5 miles and it acted like it ran out of gas again. so next thing im going to try is to replace the fpr. atleast tomorrow i will have another car. picking up a 95 z28 with a 6 speed.
